The Oilers have added some forward help.
Edmonton traded for forwards Jason Dickinson and Colton Dach from the Chicago Blackhawks for Andrew Mangiapane and a conditional first-round pick in 2027 on Wednesday night. The pick is top-12 protected, and the Blackhawks are also retaining 50 per cent of Dickinson's salary.
The Oilers moved Curtis Lazar to long-term injury reserve to make room on the roster for Dickinson and Dach.
Dickinson is two years removed from a career season, where he logged bests of 22 goals and 13 assists before inking a contract worth $4.25 million.
While still a productive player, the 30-year-old hasn’t been able to replicate that success, posting six goals and seven assists this season.
Dickinson is in the midst of his 11th season, playing 549 games between the Blackhawks, Canucks, and Stars.
He’s also logged five goals and four assists in 40 playoff contests, last appearing during the 2019-20 season with Dallas.
The forward is a pending free agent at the end of the season.

Dach, meanwhile, has recorded three goals and six assists in 53 games with Chicago this season. He was selected 62nd overall by the Blackhawks in the 2021 NHL Draft, when Oilers GM Stan Bowman was still with Chicago.
Chicago takes on Mangiapane's $3.6-million salary over the next two seasons. He has struggled this season with just 14 points through 52 games and was recently sent to the AHL.
Mangiapane had to waive his no-trade clause to make the deal happen.
The trade is the second between the Oilers and Blackhawks this week. On Monday, Edmonton acquired veteran defenceman Connor Murphy for a second-round pick.
